CONCLUSIONS From the following chart we can draw a profile’s comparative analysis of the career advisors that have participated on qualitative interviews in the four countries members of this project. CAREER ADVISORS Gender Average age Average work experience Female Male 20-30 30-40 + 40 0 - 5 years 5 – 10 years + 10 years SLOVAKIA 5 0 0 4 1 2 2 1 CYPRUS 3 2 0 4 1 2 2 1 UK 4 1 2 1 2 4 1 0 SPAIN 4 4 0 3 5 5 2 1 According to the data in this chart, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. The participants are mainly women. This information could make us think that this is a profession in which there are more women than men. Even though this information could be confirmed through the samples we have obtained (23 participants), those samples do not allow us to draw real conclusive statements. 2. Career guidance professionals’ average age is from 30 years on. It is remarkable the low participation of professionals on their twenties. This can lead us to conclude that it is, in fact, a consolidated profession reached years after finishing university studies and having a certain maturity on the labour market. 3. Maybe the most interesting information is drawn from the last column in which it is indicated the average number of expertise years on the sector. Significantly in UK and Spain, professionals have manifested that they have less than five years of expertise. However, Cyprus and Slovakia’s data are less significant and we could say that the average there ranged between five and ten years of expertise. Anyway, it stands out that only three of the 23 participants have more than ten years of expertise on the professional guidance sector. This makes us think that we are dealing with a profession relatively new or with relatively new recognition.
