Predictions for Spain show that between 2013 and 2025 job opportunities will focus on: medium and high qualification jobs; technical and liberal professions; and distribution, transportation, business and services areas. Adults’ involvement in education activities related to work is inferior to the average. In Spain, over 31% of adults take part in adult education activities related to work, in comparison with the Nordic countries, where it’s around 50%. People with higher education and competence levels have a higher tendency to take part in education and training activities than their less qualified counterparts. Unemployed and inactive adults also are much less prone to take part in adult training activities and those adult education activities related to work. Compared to other countries, a big proportion (16%) of employed people in Spain uses their own funds for education and training. According to the Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC 2012), obstacles for involvement in training in Spain include: being very busy at work (28%), difficulties to find a balance between work life and infancy cares and family responsibilities (21%), wrong time or place (9%) and not having the right requirements prior to the training (5%).
